Microschool
Your child will love school again! Or maybe for the first time ever. Pioneer Reading Center offers small class size and individualized instruction for homeschool students. Students will not only experience academic growth but will also become skilled leaders, thinkers, and contributors to the community. At the PRC your child will feel safe and loved and know how truly brilliant they are. In person part time and full time options available. We are a Jon Peterson Scholarship provider, so students who meet those qualifications receive services free of cost.
Tutoring
After school reading tutoring is offered to any student not attending the PRC. Practitioner is trained in structured literacy, dyslexia disabilities, as well as both speech to print and print to speech intervention methods. Students of any age or grade are welcome. A free consultation evaluation is included to inform the best way forward for your child.
Parent Advocacy
The special education world is confusing! The PRC is here to help. Parents will receive help in learning about every part of the IEP process, from how to ask the district for an evaluation to understanding each section of the IEP and its implementation. This process can be very emotional and stressful for parents. You don't have to do it alone!

Who can receive services at PRC?
Have you always wanted to homeschool but lack the time or resources? The Pioneer Reading Center is your solution! We are a Jon Peterson scholarship provider, so homeschool students with an IEP and a JP scholarship can receive services school at no cost to the parent. We are accepting applications for students in grades 1-6. Students of any age or grade level may inquire about after school tutoring services.
What is the Jon Peterson Scholarship?
The JP is a scholarship funded through the state of Ohio for students identified as having special needs using funds already allocated for the student. Students must be homeschooled or attend a non-public school to be eligible. Parents can apply at any time throughout the year. The JP scholarship can be used at the participating school or provider of the parent's choice. What makes the PRC different?
The PRC is a tutoring center and microschool dedicated to providing the very best education to all students. At PRC your child's learning needs come first and will be used to tailor instruction to best fit those needs. In addition to direct and explicit reading instruction, students will be offered a hands on, project-based curriculum that will foster a love of learning and a solid base from which to pursue their next steps in education and their life passions.
What is a microschool?
Think one-room school house!
A microschool is a multi-age, independent educational setting boasting small class sizes, close family involvement, and personalized learning. Microschools like The PRC have exploded in popularity in recent years, as families become increasingly frustrated with the public school systems and seek to reclaim autonomy in choosing the best educational setting for their child.
​ What is the cost?​
Jon Peterson scholarship awardees attend the PRC at no cost to the parent. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the parent and will include yearly school supplies and the occasional extra cost for field trips or additional needed supplies. The PRC does not offer lunch so a daily meal will need to be sent with the student as well. Private pay is also available at the discretion of the PRC.​
​How can my child be homeschooled and attend the PRC?
​​Parents of homeschooled children are permitted to outsource parts or all of their children's education. The child is still considered a homeschooled child, so ultimately the parent is responsible for the responsibilities that come with homeschooling. Meet the Founder
My name is Pam Frankforther. I am a certified teacher in regular education grades1-8 and special education in grades K-12. I am trained in structured literacy and dyslexia services. Next year I will proudly celebrate year 20 in the field. Education is my passion, and I strive to continually learn and evolve to provide the best possible education for your child,
